is it normal to slightly lose bladder control when pregnant?
this morning, just before i got a chance to go number 1, standing in the bathroom running a brush through my hair, i all of a sudden sneezed, (which i also do about 15-20 times a freekin day since being pregnant!) and a little bit came out.. gross! i was so annoyed cause i was already dressed! luckily i was wearing a skirt, so i cleaned up myself and was able to just change my underwear and head to work.
is the loss of bladder control and the sneezing normal?
please advise.. i know its not the most pleasant, but i need to know if other women have experienced this.
thanks

Oh honey, sorry this is embarrassing to you. But, talk to some women who have been around the block before. It is a common joke. I am 32, not pregnant!! (those days are long gone), and I still stop in my tracks, cross my legs to sneeze. Your perfect bladder control may never come back. That is what the panty liner was invented for!!! Be careful when you laugh, when you cough and sneeze. You can do Kegel muscle exercises (best time is when you are actually p'n, stop and start the flow) it will strengthen those muscles. But, what you are going through is just a normal part of life. One of those untold things. I also used to do it when I threw up, which was a lot during my pregnancies. Just take some precautions, and you can manage it. And, please, chat to some older women in your life. We eventually realize that it is normal, and women do joke about it all the time!! It is like an initiation into a fine club, of women who can laugh at themselves!! Welcome to this honorable club!!! And, congrats on the new baby!!

Yes, it is normal to lose control of your bladder while pregnant. Just wait until 3rd trimester when baby is really pressing on your bladder and you need to run to the bathroom all the time! And because your muscles are stretched out after giving birth, you may have it continue for a couple of months after baby is born too!

No it received't be the mucus plug. The plug is thicker and harder. that's the mucus (i recognize it sounds yuk) that lays over the bottom of the uterus... and it really is amazingly ordinary for it to leak out - more desirable so in the route of the right. it really is a limey style of coloration and that's fantastic. I had all of it through my huge form 2, 3, and somewhat with huge form 5. So the mucus plug is more desirable of a blob. And once you're in labour and performance what's termed a "bloody tutor" it really is this similar mucus stuff that comes out yet they call it a bloody tutor because as your cervix starts starting the blood vessels smash and it has steaks of blood through it.

I'm 26 eeks along and the very same thing happened to me the other night. Thankfully i was at home because it was bad! I told my husband "i hope that doesn't happen when I'm out somewhere"! It's terrible and i hate to say it but it only gets worse. My mom has a bad bladder still to this day and she says it's from having children. One of the perks of being a mother.

I just went through it last week while I was sick I coughed and gush I didn't even feel the need I ended up wearing pads because I kept coughing and everytime I coughed a little came out even if I just emptied my bladder so to keep from getting it on my clothes that's what I did.

Yep. Start doing pelvic floor exercises.
That happened to me on the way home from work once, not the most pleasant experience.
It's normal though, so don't worry :)
EDIT: the pelvic floor exercises will help you get control back, do them as often as you remember, that way, you won't continue to suffer after birth too. Do them several times a day from now until about 9 months after birth.
I got so used to them that I find I do them still, and my little girl will be 2 in April :)

Absolutely normal. The pressure of the uterus on the bladder can cause sudden, unexpected small amounts of urination, especially when sneezing. My wife experienced this to some degree. Consider it a side effect of pregnancy....

I have and i couldnt stand it. I wore panty liners so i wouldn't leak on my underwear. Eventually i had to star wearing pads which became helpful when my water broke because the pad soaked up most of the water. Sneezing is normal don't worry... but try wearing panty liners.

The same started happening to me but I was already on my 36th week, I was very alarmed so I went to the doctor and told me the next time (and I know is gross but you gotta do what you gotta do) smell it and make sure that indeed was pee. For ME turned out that I was loosing water fluid so I had to be monitored every two days because I was loosing the fluid rapidly , the next week they made a C-section. My advice, make sure it's pee and call your doctor just to let him know what's going on. Good Luck!

Yes - this is a very common occurrence in pregnancy. You might want to wear a panti-liner to take care of any "leakage." The kind with a deodorant are a very good choice, assuming you're not sensitive to it.
