Give me the motivation?

Question

Its weird to say this but i know i am intelligent but i just have no motivation to bring my grades up beyond above-average. Im that annoying person that rarely needs to study to get decent grades but i know this is not healthy for me.

Can you help me get some motivation to start using myself well? School starts tommorrow and id rather be dreaming off in the backyard.

Nothing really excites me basically.

You seem to be dissatisfied with the current situation which is the motivation behind all change. What you need next is a vision of what you want to be/do, then some specific steps to take to get there. To find meaning in day-to-day activities it needs to be part of something bigger.

How's this for motivation. You are one of the smart ones who doesn't need to study much to get good grades huh? Well, what are you gonna do with that? You can either put it to work to get a good degree in something and make a good living, or you can live like I do. Paycheck to paycheck. And a paycheck is not enough to pay everything. So then you get to worry about how you are going to keep your gas on in the winter so you don't freeze to death. Or how you are going to buy food for you and your family to eat. Or lose your car because you can't make the payments. Or house. And lets not forget the holidays that just got over with. You really can't even afford to buy gifts. Not even for your own kids. It really sucks. Then you can't afford to go to the doctors because you are depressed and could use some medication for that, but you can't afford the medication anyways, so why go in the first place. I'll probably die early because of all the stress. Have a good stress free life! Do something with your life. Choose a good career and stick to it. Did that work?

You say you are intelligent and get good grades quite easily. Just by writing this it shows you want to do better, and you can. Sometimes people don't show much interest in the achievements of someone who doesn't have to strive hard to get decent marks and this may be what is hindering your motivation at the moment. I think you need a mentor to encourage you to exceed your own expectations and celebrate your victories when you do.

Motivation is down to the individual, one can't wave a magic wand and hey presto you're motivated. Just think what you want to achieve in your life, then take the first step towards that goal, everyone has motivation to some degree, we get out of bed in the morning, we clean our teeth, we bath/shower, one has to have motivation to do these things,wenalso dress ourselves otherwise we would all go around starkers, you HAVE the motivation just keep working on it. good luck with your grades.

I too don't like studying at home. If you feel the same, I suggest you pay attention to your teacher during class and try to recite. If you do not understand ask questions. Remember that class time is compulsory and you can't do any other thing so make the most out of it. You wont need to study if you understand the lectures well.

get through high school. then take a year and work, most likely at a crappy food service or customer service job. that will give you the motivation you need to educate yourself or seek out job training. or else you'll be stuck in that crappy job.

maybe you're not being challenged enough? there's nothing wrong with trying to educate yourself through library, internet, other people, etc.
