Since the PS3 is out, will it take a short/long time for ps2 to be phased out? Ps2's price has decreased a lot...Should I go buy one?

Look at the xbox. its been over a year since the x360 release and they are still making plenty of games for the regular xbox. It will be the same way with the ps2. There is still money to be made on ps2's, and they will continue to produce them for another 2 years, is what alot of critics are speculating.

Sony makes about an $8 profit on every PS2 sold, while they lose a couple hundred dollars on every PS3 at this point. This combined with the 100 million PS2's that are in household's worldwide, makes me think that the PS2 is going to be around for quite a bit longer.

Now is really a great time to have a PS2, since there are plenty of games to be found for it, and at really good prices. You have nothing to worry about.

PS2 I think will take a long time to phase out, because everyone has one. That was a very big deal a few years ago was to get that game system, and now everyone still has them. They are also coming down in price so that means more people are going to be willing to buy them for their children now that they don't have to pay 300.00 for one. I have also heard that PS3 still has some clitches in it, so people are more willing to go for the PS2

It wont final too long, no longer as long as a pair of years even yet it has had approximately 7 years with the aid of fact the main commonly used console, a niche quickly to be taken through the Wii lol, it somewhat is going to final untill some months after the Wiis take over, which wont be long RIP PS2 :(

No - it will be phased out but not a quicky as some consoles have. However, Sony has a big investment in the PS3 so look for the push.
