i bought a lan cable to connect two pc's together, but its too short, what can i use to make it reach, and the cable that i got was the longest the store had! what can i do

I assume you're using Cat5 or better twisted pair. Purchase another length of cable and use a Cat5 coupler, almost like using an extension cord. Just make sure the total length isn't getting too close to about 300 feet. Not the prettiest solution but it'll work just fine, I have used them with no issues. Note that the maximum length you can use is about 300 feet, so if you are trying to go longer than that you may have a problem...

But if you are going shorter than that, then you can link a couple of cables together using a simple coupler. Since peer-to-peer connection is usually limited to 10Base-T connection, you don't need to worry about category rating. But, make sure that if you are using a cross-over cable, don't link it to another cross-over cable!! And don't use a cross-over adapter. If you cross a cross-over, you get a straight pinning and the cards won't understand each other.
