Sperm cells look like quirky, jerky moving minute worms under the (LPO) low power objective of a microscope (around 10 X magnification), on the other hand, they look like "tadpoles" under the (HPO) high power objective (40 X magnification). Under the (OIO) oil immersion objective (100 X magnification) , the sperms appear even bigger, a large tadpole; this magnification can allow you to differentiate the normal from the abnormal forms (double headed, two tailed) etc. Sperm cells are an amazing sight under the microscope. One could hardly believe that these fast, wiggling "tadpoles", unseen by the naked eye could be a partner in the formation of a creature as complex as a human being.!

given that you have to use an eye piece in addition to an objective in order to see an image through a microscope you have to multiply the magnification of the objective with the magnification of the eyepiece. The most common magnification of an eyepiece is 10x. So if you can see something using a 40x objective you are magnifying it 400x.
I don't know what the lowest magnification is you can get away with, but I am sure you can see it with a 1000x magnification. If you look up the size of sperm (e.g. wikipedia) you can probably work it out. Depends also how much detail you want to see or if you just want to see if something is there or not.

You typically use a 40-100x objective lens and bright field microscopy... Meaning the smallest you can see them is 40x and the background is brighter than the object you are viewing. If they are alive you can see something at lower magnifications, but nothing specific enough to say t is sperm.

A funny one and I give you a star. Here is a funny(!!) ghosts chat. Two ghosts met and both chat about how they died. 1st ghost : How u died? 2nd ghost : I died of cold. 1st ghost : How does it feel when you're dying in cold? 2nd ghost : Actually, I was accidentally locked in the refrigerator. Initially, I was shivering, then my whole body started to freeze, later I felt the whole world was dark and I died suffocating. 1st ghost : Wow what a horrible way to die.... 2nd ghost : How about you? How u die? 1st ghost : I died from heart attack. 2nd ghost : I see, why did u have a heart attack? 1st ghost : Actually, I found out that my wife is having an affair with another man. One day, when I came back from work, saw a pair of man shoes outside my house. Then, I realized that the guy was in my house with my wife. When I rushed into the bedroom, my wife was alone. I must find where that bastard is hiding. So I searched the toilet, I ran downstairs, looked in the storeroom, but the bastard was not there. So, I ran upstairs and searched the wardrobe, but I found nothing. Because of all that running,I got a heart attack and died. 2nd ghost : Why you never look for the bastard in the fridge? The bastard was hiding there. We both might be alive now!!
