You continue with your current partner, if you DO love her (or him). If your feelings for your ex are keeping you from treating your current partner with the care and attention they deserve, then you may need to finish with them. Either way, put aside all notion of getting back together with your ex. Your ex has her travelled her own journey in the last 8 years and has her own partner to satisfy.
You were in contact with her up until last year. Did she once ever intimate that she wanted a reconciliation with you?
These feelings for your true love will remain with you. The anguish you're feeling you'll just have to temper with the fact that when you were together - it didn't work out. It probably wouldn't work out again (consider Richard Burton & Liz Taylor). You truly love your ex? Then content yourself by removing yourself from her life, that she can try and enjoy hers. That's love.

You do nothing. Your relationship with your ex ended 8 years ago. By now you are both different people. She has a responsibility to her new partner and you have one to yours. You can't have it both ways. That's not fair to anybody.

Break u pwith your current partner and stay away from the both of them for about a month. Give yourself time to clear your head - and find out if your ex is still even interested in you at all. DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID.

you will always have feelings for her. Spend time with your current partner like you would have with your ex. You need to move on.

I think what you are feeling is normal. I think most of us can relate to unrequited love. What isn't right that you are thinking about it so much, it will affect your present relationship. You should try to be present in your current relationship or make a decision to give up your current relationship and attempt to recapture your old flame. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Obviously your ex's for a reason, and I feel terribly sorry for your partner now since you seem to be leading her on.

She'll always be in your head. Put those happy memories where you store all the other ones (your schoolfriends, your mother's smile when she was young), take them out and enjoy them on occasion, and then go on and live your life Today!
