I'm going to give my age away with this one. I have gone times since alone, but this sticks in my mind the most. I went to see Ghost by myself when it first came out. (My friend was going to go, but became ill and could not) The theater was WAY crowded, almost standing room only....and as I left a teenaged boy my age was at the door counting how many people came out crying. He had counted to over 30 as I believe.

I love the movies and I don't have a regular movie partner so I usually go by myself. Believe it or not, I go Saturday night (date night) to the 7:30pm show because that is the only time that I don't feel too tired. I work all week and Saturday I rest all day, and then I can appreciate and give my full attention to the movie.
I don't feel uncomfortable anymore about it because I got used to doing it. I don't think people are looking at me because I am alone - people are usually busy with their own affairs.
When you are watching the movie, you should be quiet anyway - so there is no need for a partner then. Of course, if there is a break in the movie or just commercials, it's nice to have someone to talk with.
Yes, the theater usually is crowded Saturday night - it's probably the most popular night to go to the movies.
Movies are great entertainment and my treat to myself and I don't think I should miss out on this experience just because I can't find a like-minded individual - so off I go - down the yellow brick road to the movie house.

Once in a blue moon I'll go to a movie by myself. I've got a major case of the guilties so I usually take my daughters to see what they want but when a movie comes out that I really wanna see, I go. Mind you it doesn't happen very often but it does happen. Oh, and the theater usually isn't crowded.

Sometimes going to the movies alone is a good idea. It gives you a chance to think. And it also gives you a chance to enjoy a good movie and not have to worry about conversation, and a lot of other things. You don't even have to worry too much about your appearance.
I've gone to the movies by myself several times. I prefer to go when there are only a few people in the theatre.

Yes, a couple of times. Normally I just go watch a movie whenever I feel like it. The crowd depends on the timing I guess, though I usually avoid the peak hours (e.g.weekends, evenings, school holidays...) Prefer going to the cinemas for movies worth watching a couple of times (I'm a movie buff!), so dragging my friends along won't be fair to them. Why wait for anyone when you can just go by yourself, right?

I love movies and often go by myself. Sometimes it's a movie that my husband isn't interested in seeing and sometimes I'm just in the mood to see a film and go by myself. I don't think anyone is even paying attention to whether or not you have someone with you.....so no reason to feel weird about being alone. But if I do go alone, then I like to find someone else who has seen it so we can discuss the film. I'm more into independent films and not usually the big Hollywood blockbusters.

Not by myself, but once, on a date, my boyfriend and I sat in the middle of the theater, and a man all alone, came in and sat on the other side of me...the irony of this is that we were the only 3 people in the entire theater...so if you do go by yourself, and there are empty seats, leave a dating couple alone!

When I've gone by myself, the theater is never crowded. When I go with other people, then it is.

Yup, went to see Pirates of the Carribean 2 and it was packed. Sometimes when I get bored I'll go see a movie by myself, it makes me look like a friendless loser but I don't really care, and I don't need companions to watch a movie anyway.
