These are supposed to prevent you from drilling into a cable and killing yourself. I'm trying to find them on eBay but don't know what they're called. I'm putting some shelves and stuff up at home and don't particularly want thousands of volts coursing through my body. I'm still young and handsome. Well, young anyway.

power can neither be created or destroyed (exterior of fission and fusion) that's basically switched over from one kind to a diverse generally all power finally ends up as warmth (once you communicate machines that vent fluids, right here the device might desire to be defined to evaluate the different room.) A television set will warmth up a room,as will a computer as will the radiant or fan heater. The heater is only extra helpful at doing it. warmers are extra useful and swifter. For the fan heater a small quantity of electric powered power is used to transport the nice and comfortable air rapidly onto the guy transforming into a thermal gradient and heating the guy up quicker, for the fan electric powered power is replaced into kinetic power, which in term is switched over into warmth. mutually as in a television the electrical powered power will in particular be switched over to warmth, some would be switched over to easy, while the sunshine hits a wall and is absorbed that's going to be switched over to warmth, some would be switched over to sound and then to warmth. the television will vent the warmth out of the decrease back preserving the workings yet not heating any human beings effectively. because of the fact the heating isn't directed lots extra power is lost to the atmosphere so the perceived heating effect is way less. So 2 television gadgets will heat up a room yet your concept could be that the heater could do it lots quicker, and as much less warmth could be lost so greater temperature could be reached.

go to wal-mart, lowes, borg etc and check out the electrical section,, for about $9 you can get a voltage detector that is about the size and shape of a fountain pen! I have two and they come in handy very often as I am a big DIYer! you put the tip in an outlet socket or just pass it along a wall and it will beep if there is A.C. flowing! one I have is adjustable to be able to detect voltage in walls or isolate outlet prongs!

Metal Detector.
Some are more sophisticated and tell you by different beeps or sounds what is in the wall.Wether it be wood or metal or a live cable, or even a gas or water pipe.
The more elaborate the device the more it costs.
Good luck

why EBAY.. there arent expensive from any DIY shed.. anywhere between £5 & £20.

go out and get one, and stop procastinating/putting off doing the job

incidentally you are not going to get thousnads of volts... a mere 240v AC should do the trick nicely
