I have never thought I was the only person that dealt with prejudices, first of all I am black, second I am a woman, and third I am very petite. Now let's take a look at all the stereotypes I have had to deal with that has nothing to do with my race. I am a woman, I joined the military and I have spent the last 19 years feeling as if I always have to prove I have the right to be there. It doesn't matter that I do my job well, but dealing with a group of men they always doubt my ability. I have never had any problems with doing my job but yet, I have had to prove myself time and time again, even now after 19 years. Now let's talk about my height I am 4'11", do you know how many times I have had to listen to people make short jokes, ask if I needed help when I was in stores, and can you believe when I was in college people would actually pick me up. Pick me up, give me a break. People are prejudice against anything that look different to them, it's not about race all the time, it can be anything.

Try smiling at people when they look at you. You aren't the only man with long hair, a ball cap or a flannel shirt. Just maybe it's the attitude projected, and not the hair or clothes, that make you think people are being prejudice toward you. Make eye contact. Big Smile.

Just from personal experience, a hair cut, change of clothes, and removal of a ball cap would still qualify a person of my ethnic background to be perceived as bringing a certain amount of assumed menace--where one situation is about appearance, the other will still remain color. Although both are wrong, one may assimilate whereas the other is (to a certain degree) barred entry. America still has a way to go in terms of ethnic/racial tolerance...we'll get there...keep your head up...

Everyone is hated for something which is why blacks know their not the only ones they just speak about it more. Personally i could careless what people think about me. I'm still me, that will never change. Everyone hates someone or looks down on them like their better, we all know it's bull but that's life. You can't live your life pissed off all the time because of it though, that may be why people focus on you, negative attention. We all go through it!

i don't know of anyone that thinks that they're the only ones to deal with prejudice.
i think that everyone has to deal with that at some point in their lives.
i understand what you're saying. my husband had long hair when we met (and for a long time after). i loved it, but my family (and everyone else we met) thought he was a hippie or something.
sorry that it happens to you so often. i hope it gets better.

DUDE!!!!!
Why are you continuously making hasty generalizations. It is a fallacy in logic and it destroys your argument. You have not talked with ALL blacks to state they we think we're the only ones, so why would you go ahead and make such a comment.
Maybe if you stopped stereotyping all blacks, that would be a start to something good.

Some people like to bully other people, it has been going on for years, it doesn't matter what race or creed you are. Some don't like the clothes you wear some don't like how you talk and the list goes on! So we just have to ignore the ignorant!

200 years of oppression by white people and slavery.
Jesus said love your enemies.
I think he meant, get to know the strangers among you, before you become predjudice against their character and See their way of life as something righteous before you assume they are evil.
but i always say that All of us are slaves and poor, the only ones that get good jobs are those that can be educated and are not highly oppressed with sorceries and witchcrafts and hunted like prey. Hey im thinking of myself.

You wouldn't understand. Your people choose to forget the injustices meted out to them in the past (except for you though) they choose to hold onto that period of injustice just like the beggars in third world countries who reopen wounds to garner sympathy.
