Bought a 64Mb Sandisk Pro Duo Magicgate memory stick for my son's PSP. Plugged it in and it showed 59Mb. Formatted it with the PSP and it went up to 60Mb. What happened to the other 4Mb??

the remaining memory is used for storing software related to memorystick.not only that memorystick,various mmorycards,mmc,sd,even hdd of a computer shows less memory than prescribed.

maximum memory calls for a format so as that the processor can communicate with the memory device. This format takes up a small quantity of area on the memory stick. This distinction isn't that major and is possibly standard.

All memory cards are the same. A 2G card is 2048MB but will only show 1.86GB. Not sure why, probably memory that the card uses to access the saved data. Hope this is of help

I think that 4mb is used to keep the records to find in which sector is ur save file present.
