I remember how to play clock and 7 columb patience but my mother taught me how to play 4 columb patience with all cards face up. I used to spend hours playing this and am now trying to teach my children how to play. I am unable to remember how to play and my mother cant remember either. Hope somebody can help. Would be much appreciated.

the version I remember is shuffle the pack and lay down the top 4 cards face up, if you have one card from each suit facing you that is the end of the round, lay the next four cards (face up) on the first four, if however the first four cards has two, three or four of the same suit you discard all cards of same suit except the highest card (Aces are high). At some point it is likely you will clear a column completely, there are two schools of thought 1) any (top)card can then be moved to the empty column, and 2) only an Ace can be moved over. The object after 13 rounds is to be left with only the 4 Aces and all the other cards in the discard pile.
