The xbox 360 only supports Mpeg, Mpeg4 and wmf. If you download videora (Link Below) you'll be able to transcode the video file to mpeg 4 for free. Share these files under my videos and you should be able to play them,
There is another way which is explained in the lower link. However you can't rewind or fast forward.
Both are free though!

By default the xbox360 will only play certain video formats (codecs).
There are tools out there to do live streaming of other formats in to a format the 360 will read. See my source list for an example, also google for "360 transcoding"!
