What do you think would be a better business? a European cafe, or a really chic clothing store?

The European cafe would be a very modern uptown conservative comfortable cafe. The clothing store would sell only popular clothes, what is in style, for the teens and young adults.

im not talking about a truck stop cafe that sells pancakes and stuff, only coffee, and a very conservative place

Unless you are a chef, I think you would be safer (and happier) with a clothing store. When you own a small business YOU need to be able to do just about every job in the business to keep it going. Chefs can be difficult and temperamental...believe me I know... I own a restaurant.

I would do whichever interests you more and you have more experience with. Running a business is hard, and you might want to think about whether or not you can manage a cafe or a retail store better. I know that I would prefer the cafe, but thats me. They are both risky endeavours and can bing much success, but I personally would like to have a place my friends can come have a coffee and where others socialize. Maybe you could incorporate the two in an interesting way and have both. I once worked in a restaurant that was in a book store, it was a great idea and both places complemented eachother and added to the business. Good luck.

Tough choice. You'd have to observe the area where it's to be located to see which would be most appealing. Don't rely on clientel coming from a distance to patronize the store.
Of course you could always combine the two in some sort of clever way. Either way you'll be dealing with some loss--food products and clothing that become outdated.
And...be prepared to put in alot of hours of your own time.
