CNN has claimed that the handphone video secretly taken at Saddam's execution has caused an outrage amongst Suunis in Iraq, rightly so perhaps. However, wouldn't it be irresponsible on the part of CNN to keep showing the video in its news broadcast over and over and over again. do you not think that this kind of journalism is not helping the situation in Iraq at all.showing graphics footages of the execution will not cool down tension but rather exacerbate it. CNN should act more responsibly and not simply hide behind the pretext of freedom of the press.

Your are completely right, by doing this CNN is doing nothing but adding more gasoline to the fire, and the sad part is all about profits and audience, the journalism profession is no longer what it used to be..☺

To tell you frankly, it was the Arabic TV broadcast channels who made the first showing of the Saddam hanging on their telecasts. CNN is not fanning the sectarian conflict in Iraq. As a matter of fact, most people in the Middle-East don't understand English, and so CNN, Fox, BBC, MSNBC and other English language broadcasts are watched by a very small number of the population, and therefore are of little influence. And besides, they are cable broadcasts accessible only to cable subscribers. The Iraqi's can only watch local Arabic television broadcasts.

I understand that another cause of the outrage is, what the video captured. He, a Sunni, was transferred from U.S. custody into the custody Shia followers of Muqtada al sadr. The Sunnis in the region feel strongly about this.

Also, Kurds are angry because Hussein never faced charges for using the chemical weapons against them! Shia in the south of Iraq are outraged because he didn't face charges for the murders, which followed the closing days of Gulf War. I thought he was convicted for ALL of his crimes!

CNN isn't the only venue for viewing the hanging of Hussein; the video was on-line fast.

I agree with your rhetorical question.

The large media corporations are being taken over by friends of the military industrial complex. The money is being made by the war profiteers. Power is being gained by their political allies, and CNN and the others are enabling both to take control of America and NATO.

It's interesting also that CNN doesn't take much time to report on extreme new laws and corporate irresponsibilites/crimes.

I agree completely. Most of the hatred, misconceptions, stereotypes and generalizatons we have about different religons and areas of the world are due to the bias in media.

I do not watch CNN and have not for years because they make their political agenda obvious in their broadcasting. Unfortunatley they are just like many others in the US. I actually read and watch AlJezeera most of the time.
