You should definitely buy any of the TOCA series by Codemasters (not sure what the latest one is called). Grant Turismo is great for a while, but as soon as you have the money to buy a decent car, the racing element disappears out the window. They follow a prefect racing line at a calm speed. With TOCA however, it actually is a proper race.

If you're looking for fun, try the Burnout series (No. 2 onwards). The driving isn't exactly realistic, but it's really good and the sense of speed is amazing.

Im playin TOCA race driver 2 at the moment and its fab. You really have to learn how to drive each car you are given as they are all different ie a big rear wheel drive thing handles differently to a formula ford or a racing truck. I love it but not everyone does. I got very bored of the Gran Turismo games
