Terrorism by definition is the terrorizing of a group of people for political purposes. So none of the definitions are correct!

How's this for an atrocity committed by those dirty, stinkin' terrorists, eh? A bomb was placed on a civilian ferry. It was timed to explode when the ferry was over the deepest part of the lake it traversed, and the water was freezing. No warning was given. Fourteen innocent civilians either drowned or froze to death when the bomb went off, sinking the ferry, along with four soldiers who were on board at the time. Would you believe that some people actually consider the terrorists who planted the bomb to be some kind of heroes? They even made a film about them! It's easy to be judgemental when you only have one side of the story. The ferry was carrying Germany's last stocks of heavy water, essential for the manufacture of a nuclear bomb. It was sunk while crossing Lake Tinn in Norway on February 1940 by Norwegian partisans, or 'freedom fighters' if you like. However, the raid achieved nothing and the fourteen civilians died in vain as Germany's nuclear programme was a complete failure and they were nowhere near the development of anything like a nuclear weapon. The 'Heroes of Telemark' didn't know that, though, but it doesn't change the facts. So, if you were one of the fourteen civilians floundering about in freezing water with no hope of rescue - terrorist or 'freedom fighter'? It's all a matter of perspective, really.

i live in america but im indian, so i guess it still counts
the american government proly brands terrorists as the reasons u listed above, but hell so does our motherland india
wat started as a small maoist insurgency (undoubtedly started, armed adn supplied by china) has now ballooned into wat ppl call the red corridor, where like half of india is under control of those communist "terrorists"
most of these people have said they have simply joined the fight because the damn corrupt government takes out the lands riches, such as timber oil natural gas etc. yet gives them $hit in return...the infrastructure is even worse than the rest of india which is hella bad.... i dont blame them for wat they are trying to achieve but violence definitely isnt the way they should be pursuing things...but it isnt the way the army should be either..
so instead of labeling them as terrorists there should be a sincere discussion about their problems..wat bismarck had done in germany was that he was scared of a large scale socialist revolution (like wat happnd in russia under lenin), so he figured that the only reason it would occur was if the workers, or proletariat, couldnt get a high enough standard of living
so he simply started providing government services, medical, unemployment, welfare etc and poof the socialist movement vanished into thin air, simply because their needs were taken care of
on the same note if the indian government and damn politicians (who u ppl keep re-electing, by the way) finally just stop lining their pockets and making an honest effort to improve our country, things will definitely be on the bright side for india

Terrorism is a form of government! It is the government forcing people to obey through fear. Terrorism is not a group, there are terrorist groups and they don't only exist in the middle east, I'll give you that, but what I believe America is trying to do is help the people suffering from the terrorist acts, not commit them. The US throughout history has worked to protect people. American people have been sending money, food, and volunteers to Africa for years. We, as a country have lent our money and time to help people in need. No, we're not able to "solve" the world's problems, but at least we care! We are losing precious people to the fight against terror, but those people are there because they care. They aren't fighting because they hate the terrorists, they are fighting to protect the innocent people afflicted by terrorism. I am proud of the soldiers who refuse to stand by while terrorist groups teach hate to people who then act on their hatred through events like 9/11. Had it not been for that day, we might just be shipping food and Bibles to the Middle East, but because they came to my country where I was minding my own business and hurt my people, we are more aware of what's taking place over there and dedicated to preventing not just another attack on our people, but going strait to the root of the problem...the hatred taught to these people commiting the terrorist acts.

Your first definition comes the closest. The U.S. doesn't have any plans to invade any countries. The group currently using terrorism as its tactic is not part of any sovereign state.
There is a movement among Islamics to take over a large part of the global very much like the Bolsheviks who took over Russia. It is this group that Americans want to stop.

I choose "Anyone or group which kills innocent people for a forced cause?"
Terrorism is not just al-qaeda and US. There's terrorism in other countries like Spain, Peru (in the 80s).

Your first would be the closest definition. People that hide behind Civilians while killing innocent people (the reason they do it is not important) Using teenagers as suicide bombers to kill other civilians would qualify you fast.
As for your country we have no interest in it or it's government unless you sponsor terrorists and they attack us. If you don't want America and Britain to act as the worlds police, how about policing your Muslim buddies yourself?

Any Muslim killing others in the name of Jihad, is what the Americans are after. Islamic fascism is what we really mean by terrorism. In America however, it's politically incorrect to call it what it is.

Terrorism does not see the community, status, anything like this.
Its only motive is to harm the civilised & cultured people to fulfil its purpose whether it is in case of America, India, Sri Lanka or any other countries.

Terrorism means all that it means to all. For an American, it assumes importance, when they are directly affected by it and the terrorists affront them. They want to call the bluff of the terrorists, from the Middle East.
