In your case I think it would. Voice lessons just twink the voice you already have. Like for instance, my friend is a GREAT singer. Except she's too loud in soft spots or too high in wrong spots. Anyway, she took voice lessons and it straightened her voice out. But you can't go in there with really no singing experience (I.E Never singing before/Can't sing at all) And expect to come out a Broadway singer. Like I'm not a very great singer. But if I were to take lessons people would be like "Oh she's decent" If you know a lot of about music and you have some of a voice I would give it a shot.

From the friendly wikipedia:

A cappella music is vocal music or singing without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. A cappella is Italian for like in the chapel (music); the term is due to the fact that Christian churches sang without instrumental accompaniment for the first several hundred years of its existence. It is often misspelled as a capella, which is derived from the Latin spelling (but in Latin capella means small goat), or even acapella.

When singers or a group do that it is referred to as an "acapella" performance. Some groups specialize in this area and some groups such as some boybands are extremely talented in it despite not practicing it as much as regular music with all the stuff.
