If you want to become a counsellor and are in the UK look for an Adult education centre which puts on an NVQ1 in Counselling. when you have completed that I suggest level2 then level 3 . when you have completed those i suggest a degree in Psychology and Counselling or in Psychology.

I am a counsellor and enjoy it very much, it has given me a new way of looking at relationships and changed my world view. Check out your local college to find out where they do counselling courses. A level one, usuually a ten week course, should let you know if it is really for you. Good luck!

You will need to undergo your own therapy as well as undertake at least 400 hours of practical sessions in your course and once you are qualified you will need to have constant supervision (this is according to BACP anyway). It is a very long course but has a great outcome by using your skills to help others. Best of luck to you, a very worthwhile job :)

Have you been in touch with your local college to see if thave any courses running. If you live in the UK then go to your nearest college and ask for any courses they have on counselling.
