Assume I'm on even terrain on a treadmill, running at a steady pace, if that matters.

If you can run 1.5 miles in 15 minutes, you need to find out how far you can run in one hour. One hour is 4 times 15 minutes. (4x15 = 60 minutes = 1 hour)
So... if 4 x 15 minutes = 60 minutes , then 4 times 1.5 miles = 6 miles.
If you can run 6 miles in one hour, you can run 6 miles per hour, or 6 mph.
Your answer is 6 mph.

Another way to calculate it is: You are running 1.5 miles in one fourth of an hour, so that is:
1.5 miles / 0.25 hours. = 1.5 miles x 4 hours = 6 mph.

I would see why not but I would suggest that you consider doing a couple of things: 1) Jump on a treadmill and set 1/4 mile times that must be met with a built in rest period. 2) Do the same thing on an a track for self-pace purposes. Example: Set interval marks to meet a 1/4 mile at 1:30 with a 30 second rest (slower paced jog). Doing this will help you train your pace, with the treadmill being a forced pace to have to keep up. Some other pointers are to keep your head up with your line of sight focused above your regular line of sight. Mentally, this helps you understand you are going somewhere faster. Looking down at your feet while running will slow your pace. Control your breathing with deep inhaling thru your mouth and exhale thru the nose. This is my personal advice from a competitive soccer player - its how I used to train for 12 min 2 mile fitness tests. Hope it helps.

First convert the 15 minuter to decimal

fifteen minutes is one quarter of 60 minutes

15/60 = 0.25

divide 1.5 by the decimal

1.5 / 0.25 = 6 mph

The answer is: 6 miles per hour.

You would have to run (1.5 miles) / (15 min) = 0.1 miles/min

If you want that in miles per hour, then the calculation would be

(1.5 miles) / (0.25 hour) = 6 miles/hr

60 minutes in an hour, divide by 15, get four, multiply by 1.5

6 mph. I wouldn't call that much of a run, maybe a trot, or a fast walk.
