I'm so excited for this :) My husband and I just got married in Sept, and now we're preggers! I know I'm only like 5 weeks along, so when do I call the doctor and visit him the first time? I don't have a 'regular doctor' that knows me or anything.

When i got pregnant with second child i had just moved to a different city, about hour and a half away from home, so i had no clue were to go to the doctor. I looked up on the Internet for places in my area (closest to my home) and found a great office only about 7 min from my house. I was very excited too so i called immediately. The only thing about it was I was so early in the pregnancy, about 5 weeks, that for the first 3 visits they had to do an internal exam because the fetus was so small. I'm not telling you to not visit the doctor as soon as possible only that there's no need to really rush it unless you think it's really necessary. The first visit they do test to make sure your really pregnant then they do a Pap if you haven't had one this year, and take blood samples. The rest of the first visits though there's not much they can do because the fetus doesn't have a heart beat yet. First try looking for places in your area or try a office were friends or family members have gone, that someone can recommend.

First of all "Congrats"!!
& ofcourse, you should see a Dr. as soon as possible!!
Ask any close friend you know who has children to recomend a good Dr. for you. & If the Dr. gives you any type of meds, "ask about it first" before actually taking anything, look it up online & make sure it's safe for u & your baby. Ofcourse, from now on, try to take plenty of rest & eat healthy. If you're a smoker, this is the perfect time to quit!

Congrats again & Good Luck!

big congratulation to your and your hubby =) i'd recommend you to make the appointment with a GP now. Usually, the GP will do initial blood and urine testing. I first went to see a GP - I didn't have any regular one either - when I was in my 4th week, just two days after my hpt came out +ive. all the best.

ok first go and check with your insurance to see if your covered and what your coverd for. next you can go oline to your insurance website and they should give doctor options in your area. you need to go to a obgyn/gynocology thats the kind of doctor you need to see. then yo call the obgyn you picked to set an appoinment and tell them you just found out your pregnant. they should imidiatelly check you in. and they will check you . and thats is it ;) congrats on the baby!!! good luck! xj

You need to get yourself a regular doctor and obgyn asap. your regular doctor will always oversee your health and the obgyn will take care of your baby and pregnancy. ask your close friends for referals. stay away from old wives tales, see a real doctor.
