When I'm on Youtube.com, I can't watch the videos because it says that either Javascript is turned off or I've got an old version of flash player. I've got the latest one. I'm new to firefox and usually use Internet Explorer, but I'm trying to use the video download add-on.

To check if javascript is turned on go to 'Tools -> Options'. You will find the 'Enable Javascript' check box under the 'Content' tab.

First go to the test page at and see if you are java enabled. If not go to firefox-tools-options-content and check that java and java script boxes are checked. If that doesn't work you may have to go to , download and install the java and then try again. NOTE the java originally supplied with early IE versions (MS Virtual machine) is not ok for Firefox, but the JRE ver 5.10 will work with both.
