He's the greatest pure hitter of all-time. End of story.

Until he fails a drug test--and you know he's getting tested every day of the week--he's still innocent in my book.

You can speculate all you want, but it really doesn't mean crap to me. Bonds is a great hitter, a better hitter than Ruth, Williams, Mantle, DiMaggio or anyone else you want to throw out there.

and that's the way it is...

The best hitter ever was Ted Williams. He hit for average and he could produce some power also. I would put Bonds in my top 5 due to the fact that the entire National League didn't want to pitch to him for a few years. NO ONE, ever got that. David Ortiz or Manny don't get that. Not McGwire when he hit 70. Not Sosa during the 3 years he hit over 60 homeruns. Not Mickey Mantle or Roger Maris when Maris hit 61. It wasn't the same for Babe Ruth either since for awhile he was 10 times better than ANYONE in all of baseball.

Before he started using steroids, I always thought he was one of the best all round players in the game today and in the top 20 all time easily. But since he bulked up on the stuff, I no longer recognize him. The main problem I have with Bonds is that he will not admit that he used them to get stronger and bigger which enabled him to hit the ball further than he ever did before. He has probably hit 200 homeruns that may not have left the park without the steroids and that is a fact he can never deny.

Pete Rose is the best hitter because if I am not correct he does have the most hits all time, but Hank Aaron is the best he could do everything from hit home runs, to hit for average. I would put barry right behind Rose and Aaron, because before the steroids issues he was considered to be one of the best hitters

I put Barry Bonds close to the bottom of my list. For many reasons, but I am a Huge Atlanta Braves fan, and I don't really want to see Hammerin' Hank's record broke. And I am not sure how the steroid issue is going to effect it. I personally don't like him, but he is a good ball player....atleast on the offensive side that is.

Babe Ruth had the skill and somewhat very reliable in many circumstances going on, yet Ted Williams performed a .4 hundred batting in many circumstances going on in a season and 500 homestead runs. I additionally think of by skill of the time his occupation is over Albert Pujols would desire to be up there because of the fact at this %. he's on his thank you to a minimum of six hundred-seven hundred homeruns and he constantly hits for an in many circumstances going on around .350. A wildcard for me would be Mickey Mantle if he did no longer visit conflict and if he did no longer injury down. His in many circumstances going on dipped whilst he have been given old and injury under .3 hundred yet he grew to become into great till now that and all people is acquainted with he would desire to hit the long ball.

You don't put him on any list. How long as he been a steriod uer? That's the first thing you find out. Then you discount all those years from his stats. Then you can seriously think about putting him on a list. If I discount all the years I suspected he was on steriods, he doesn't make the top 100!

Barry Bonds should be booed out of every single game he tries to play this year. He's a disgrace to the game of baseball. He's the poster boy for cheaters in every sport. He should have come forward, apologized and cleaned himself up. He continues to lie and should be treated like the lying cheater that he is.

This is to Joey V. I live in Philly and whenever bonds comes into town, you would think you are at a SF gam just based on all the Bonds jerseys I see. And then you see people boo him, those SAME people cheer him when he homers so dont get all high and mighty like you would hate him you love him.

Some of you guys are the biggest hypocrites on the planet! Some of you are the same people who think Mark McGwire who cheated damn near his entire career should be in Hall of Fame. What a joke! Here is a man who did not have the courage nor integrity to tell congress the truth. I can't stand a coward! Have some honor!. If not for the sport but for yourself. His entire career was a lie.

Now you sit here and bash a man who "did" have the courage and honor to confessing that he used steroids. A man who used steroids during a "small period" of his career.

Barry made a bone head play by using banned substances to prolong his career and he knows it. For that he will have to pay the price of whatever fate has in store for him.

As for his hitting ability, his numbers prior to using banned substances are stellar and speak for themselves and they can not be argued.

Based on stats and intimidation, Bonds would be #1 with Babe Ruth at #2. Look at the number times pitchers intentionally walke him when he would step to the plate. There was a fear when facing him from his power and his average.

I will say though when you are rating a best hitter, it is hard because there are so many other things to look at.
For example looking at # of hits - Pete Rose - would be the best...
Look at Dimaggio stats HR/K ratio... Scary....

I have him fourth.

1) Ted Williams
2) Stan Musial
3) Albert Pujols (hits like nobody's business since he came into the league)
4) Bonds
