Well if I HAVE to wear one, I might as well go all out and wear the little black dress :D just kidding. I prefer the jeans and sweater. I'm a fan of casual clothing, unless we're going to some expensive restaurant.

That depends where you are going..
If you are going to a party I would do the little black dress..
if you are goin to a friend or go shopping I would pick the jeans and the sweater..
If I am invited to dinner I would pick a black dress that wasn't too much.. but jeans and a sweater would do just fine too if they were nice looking..cause it also depends on how the clothes look..

I would never wear a black dress to school, only for the night, when I'm going out...but who nobody knows me...^^
a wouldn't wear a boring jean or a sweater...

it definitely depends where you go - if the invitation says that you should not go casual, you would not be able to go in jeans and a sweater, and the LBD would definitley be a better option.
Some women wear dresses at work as well - here, i think it depends on what you feel like wearing, what you feel comfortable in, and of course, what is expected of you to wear.
