absolutely. it's all in the body language. what's funny is that we're supposed to be the smarter species, but dogs understand most of what we say or mean (between verbal, hands, and body language), but we understand almost nothing of what they try to tell us.

Of course havent you ever heard cats dogs etc making barks or meows to each other. Even though they dont talk like us they have some form of communication. I actually saw a few years back on animal planet that they were recording monkeys sounds. And when someone would scare them they would make the same noise to warn the others. Everything has some sort of commuication even if they cant speak! Just think of people who cant talk.. they find someway to communicate weather its writing it down or hand signing it.

Animals use body position and posture and attitude to communicate. Humans rely more on spoken words and facial expression than any thing else.
Horses are really big on body position and how you walk up to them. If you are staring hard at them and move at them in a straight line looking at them they are more likely to move off than if you approach slowly and not staring at them and in a more casual manner.

Of course they do! They don't sit there and have conversations like :How's your mom? but they talk.
Dolphins use a series of clicks like morse code. Dogs use body language and types of growls. Birds use chirps, monkey throw poop. (I would love to know what that means, lol)
But still, mothers needs to teach their young. Males need to find mates. This is all done through their own way of communication.
