Many liberals claim it is not a legitimate war, or that there is no War on Terror, so what is the real answer and who has the authority to determine what is a war and what is not a war? Since we elected President Bush shouldn't we trust him when he says a war is a war? What is the benefit of saying there is no War on Terror? Why do liberals try to devide America in these terms?

Well, one thing I am sure of - you need to use spell check. This is your third post I've seen tonight bashing all the liberals. If somebody is saying there is no war on terror they are out of touch with reality. George Bush actually lost the popular vote in 2000 but used an out of date anachronism called the "Electoral College" to squeeze into power. And as George Bush deliberately misled the American public in regards to the Iraq war (the evidence for this is now abundant - even the CIA Intelligence Estimate reports confirm this) why should we trust him when he deliberately misled us? In 2004 there may be have been unfair advantage given by voting machines in Ohio so that election is also suspect, and the results of the election also showed that it was far from a landslide vote in favor of the conservatives. Thus "we" didn't elect him - remember - millions of people voted AGAINST him and FOR somebody else. Why do conservatives continue to say that its all the liberals fault? Have you run out of ideas? BTW: the word is "divide", not "devide".

Liberals are living in the past where wars are those involving nations pitting whole armies, navies and airforces against another - men in uniform who fight set piece battles. The wars (sorry no appropriate synonym) in Iraq, Afghanistan are the type of wars America will have to fight in future (terrorist-type war). Welcome liberators!
Somebody's got to be responsible for crashing planes into civilian buildings, blow up trains and public places in Spain, England, Indonesia... say what you like, I'd go all out to support the fight to hunt down the people and the countries where they plot destruction and deaths on whole civilian population. Don't need anyone telling me it's not a legitimate war.

Even tho i can't rate questions, please give attention to the answer from Paul H. It contains facts. The war on terror is the same kind of war we had in VietNam...a very real war for the thousands of men and women dying there...a fake war because the enemy isn't defined and there are no real issues. You can't have a military victory over a lie and a shadow. The part that baffles me on Yahoo is the vitriol spewed in responses. Where is civility and liberty?

Only Congress has the abilty to declare war...... and they voted yes under the laws. The Presidents judgement was sound based on the knowledege presented by the generals, the UK, the Un and many others (including CHINA!) This Is MY War and That is why I am here!
