it depends on what type of party ur looking for?
a sexy one???? well then as above reallly, tarts and vicars, school days etc etc
or a fun one?
as you suggested a superheroes one? or as you put this in the games category how about people come dressed as a video game character,,,,, laugh at people attepmpting to dress as mario, sonic, link, and the like,,,
or how about a cartoon caracter themed event,,, i went to a work fancy dress as homer simpson once,, that was great,,,
or you could do a medieval theme, and have people lancing each other all over the shop,,,,,
its all down to your own imagination really, what would you like to see the most??
i'd like the cartoon one or perhaps doctors and nurses, see who turns up in the pvc nurses outfit, and know that she's not bought it just for the party!!!!!!!!!
or just a bog standard fancy dress and see what everyone turns up in??
good luck with it anyway!

We moved into a house in Sale near Manchester. We took down the "For Sale" sign, painted it blue and added in white the word "party". We placed by the side of a four lane road and waited. Dozens of people knocked on our door, nearly all with drink and asked if they could come in. We all had a great night. Nothing went missing and there was no trouble.

If you're going to have people from different social circles then the first thing you can do is an introduction game: get everyone to fill out a name tag when they arrive but in addition to their name (or even instead of it) have them write a small, interesting tidbit about themselves. These will help encourage conversation with strangers who want to ask about someone;s recent trip to Egypt, etc. You can even have them phrase the info as an invitation: Ask me about my 12 tattoos. You can make the blank name tags a head of time and set them up at the door with markers, even stickers so people can personalize them. Other good game ideas should be group-based ones: - Shout It Out DVDs (the 80s trivia one is really good if you're the right age) - Headbandz (but drop the game element and just have people walk around with their card on and let them ask anyone questions) - BINGO/scavenger hunt: you make up the game cards with the required finds being info about you, stuff around your new house, etc. (e.g. a story about the host when she was five years old, in what room is the picture of me with my dog, etc.) and guests can have all night to complete the card - any game that will keep people moving around and talking to each other As for food, I suggest appetizers and lots of them - avoid the heavy meal and just let people nibble all night long... again, you want to keep them moving and socializing! Suggestions: - chips and dips - veggie or fruit platters - frozen appetizers from M&M Meats - thin meats on skewers with various dipping sauces (shrimps, chicken strips, etc.; peanut sauce, plum, etc.) - breads with oil/vinegar dips, hummus, etc. Good luck!
