My wife and I went to Cancun, Mexico last month. It's just a 2 hour flight from Houston. We stayed at the Blue Bay Getaway, an all adult, all inclusive resort. It's not the biggest or fanciest resort by far, but it is very nice, right on the beach, the food is very good and, if you are so inclined, you can drink almost around the clock, without pulling out you wallet except for tips. If you go into town, taxis are fairly cheap, and there are hundreds of places to go to. I've visited many countries in the world, but rarely have I seen so many bars and nightclubs concentrated in so small an area. The phrase heard most often in Cancun is "Nobody here knows you, so who gives a sh**?" We are in our 50's, so we didn't go out at night, but we did wish we had gone to Cancun when we were in our 20's. On the other hand, we never woke up with a hangover. Market 28, downtown, was touted as the best shopping area, but we found almost everything they offered was cheaper and of better quality at the Cancun Wal-Mart. I bought a half liter bottle of Reposado at Market 28 for $12. Wal-mart had it for $10. And they had Cuervo Gold, $7.50 for a liter bottle. Try Captain Hook's Dinner Cruise, go to Isla de Mujares (for the sightseeing and snorkeling, the shopping is too expensive there) and don't miss Xcaret, especially the evening show.

You can't go far wrong with the Canary islands. Tenerife playa de las americas is for young party people but los christianos just a little bit further down is more for chilling out. The island of Lanzarote is fantastic too with lots to sightsee. The best bit about the canaries is that although it's Spanish speaking and you can use the Euro, you're technically off the coast of africa so get brilliant weather all year round. Fuerteventura is quieter and the food is terrible but great if you are a windsurfer because it gets quite windy there.

Pensacola, Fl.
Pensacola is a lovely city nestled in the northwest corner of Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico. If you travel any further west or north, you would be in Alabama. While unlike most of Florida, it retains much of the unspoiled natural beauty one thinks of when thinking of Florida. When stationed there in the Navy, I quickly fell in love with the area, and stayed there for a few years after my discharge from the military. My family also has a long connection to the city, dating back nearly a three quarters of a century.
Pensacola is an old southern city steeped in history and tradition. Many homes and other buildinds can be found with Spanish or antebellum style. Pensacola is only 150 miles from New Orleans, so some of that same influence can be found in Pensacola, especially the food.
Pensacola Beach is not in the city of Pensacola. Rather, it is on a barrier island a couple of miles off the coast of Pensacola. To get from Pensacola to the beach, you have to cross the Three Mile Bridge, aptly named, over Pensacola Bay, through the town of Gulf Breeze, and cross the 1 1/2 mile Bob Sikes Bridge, over Santa Rosa Sound, to the beach. It is definately worth the drive to get there.
Once at the beach, you will find the most gorgeous beach I have ever seen. The water is so clear and emerald colored. The sand is as white as sugar. It is so white, you can get sun burned on even a cloudy day due to the relection off the sand. The island is dotted with countless sand dunes, many 3-5 stories high,. On and around the dunes are sea oats which help hold the dunes together.
Actually, there are 2 beaches at the beach. On one side of the island is the Gulf of Mexico, and on the other is Santa Rosa Sound which is generally calmer water. All I can say is check out the entire island. It is incredibly beautiful.
P.S.Not nearly as expensive as other parts of Florida. Believe it or not, for several yrs. Pensacola has had one of the lowest cost of living rates in the U.S.A.
Email or IM me & I can send you pics of area.

costa del sol is really good for the young clubbing couples these days.
Its not too dear to go there either because most old couples like to go there too for the relaxing, so you'll no- doubt find cheap offers going in travel agents' windows.
Cost del sol is good for the beaches and relaxing, shopping and many tourists enjoy the sight seeing, but in the evening thats where all the night life happens.

Miami FL is much cheaper in June and July, because it is the off-season, and it has all those things you mentioned. You could also try Tunisia, Turkey, or Morocco... they are all very cheap but nice places to visit.

Why not Berlin? There are cheap flights from Britain.
There are youth hostels (quite central), many clubs/pubs, good shopping - and lots of lakes with real beaches and clean water to take a swim in hot weather.
