Would you buy cigarettes by mail order if they were cheaper than the current UK prices

What does the law say about this.

Could I start a business that posts cigarettes to people in the UK ?

You can if you really want to kill yourself but beware Customs and Excise will still want their tax. When your cigarettes are delivered by the Post Office you will also be asked to pay the appropriate VAT etc before you will receive the package. Won't save you anything - in fact the Post Office will also charge you for the pleasure of taking your money. Best to think about giving up or popping over to Spain or France on the ferry or Easy Jet. Much cheaper.

There was a ruling on this recently, they decided not to allow cigarettes to be bought online to avoid tax.

I wouldn't buy cigarettes online, as I'm a non-smoker now! I never bought them online when I did smoke either, I prefer to get them from reliable sources, that I can trust :)

I discovered cigarette online stores. They sell cigarettes from Eastern Europe. I usually buy from http://www.cigarettespub.biz/marlboro
They ship cigarettes all over the world and have good price offers for cigarettes on internet. I pay for Marlboro Red 30$ per carton. Try, may be it will be a good option for you too.

I don't see what the point would be in doing that sens you would have to pay more for the shiping.
