Doesn`t it annoy anyone that filmmakers are now openly and unacceptably product-orientated?

For instance, the big deal in `Proof` about Jojoba seed oil. Geez, the company must have paid a bomb for that advertising; probably comped the entire film budget.

And in `The Devil Wears Prada`, the name alone in the title- never mind that the film is a putatitve satire- is worth a bomb in sales. So do you think it is accidental or was the deal done before the film and/or book ever got made?

This should stop or be stopped.

I agree, the James Bond films and mission impossible films were full of product placements and it's a pain.

I make it a point not to use products that have adverts that irritate me such as the 118 118 service that sponsors Lost.

I will never use a Chelsea or Man Utd sponsor

The deals are done before the movie is made...sometimes even during production. It is just another form of advertising. Sometimes, even when celebrities are walking down the street drinking their starbucks or pepsi, that is also product placement. It is just part of life now. I don't think it should be stopped though as people are now rarely watching TV and advertisers have to find a way to move their products. Look at all the ads on the internet!

Why should it be stopped?? It's a free counrty, or haven't you noticed??

It's all business and companies pay a fortune for product placement. Why shouldn't they??

If the movie were titled, "The Devil Wears Cheap Wal-Mart Chinese Imports" would anyone go see it??

Sheesh!
