I just had a vasectomy last week-end. It's day 5 and my 1st day back at work. I was up and walking short distances on day 3 and 4. My 1st day back at work i walked around for about 2 hours (being careful), and was dying with the pain. I can't take any kind of pain medication at work, but I absolutely have to be there. No calling in. No excuses. My question is. How long is this major pain going to last? I don't have any major swelling, just acute pain that almost makes me vomit if I don't sit for about 30 min out of every hour and a half

I was in the same boat, first day back was a killer. But on the 2nd day it got a lot better, "hang in there."

You shouldn't be in that much pain at day 5. Since you can't miss work, call your doc's office and talk to his nurse. You could simply be having some internal swelling or irritation, or you could have developed a secondary complication. Or your fellas could just be overly sensitive to the procedure and needed more time to recover. Your nurse should be able to help you out.

Your GP is the best person to report this pain too. Post Op pain should be minimal by now.

My husband was up and about in a day. He was having sex again within a week. I don't think it's normal for you to still be in severe pain.
