They should, yes... like USC did with LSU, but the BCS is all about making money, which is why they won't go to a playoff system and let the play on the field determine it all. If Florida does in fact beat Ohio State, then there will be only one undefeated team and that would be Boise State. There's your champion.

The Gators are one of the best teams in the nation - and I think they'll beat Ohio State. But even if they do, I don't know if they could beat Boise State if BSU turned in a Fiesta Bowl performance. Boise State is the best TEAM in college football. Oklahoma may pay their coach more than the entire BSU football budget, have 14 more bowl games under their belts than BSU has years in NCAA 1A, have the toughest defense in all of college football and a running back sure to go in the first round of the NFL draft... But Boise State stopped them, rocked them, ran, passed and scored on them and just plain outfought, out-thought, outlasted, out-toughed and outscored OU. In what may be the best college football game of all time, Boise State showed they could not only run with the big dogs... they can kicked them off the porch. Boise State is ALREADY the National Champion. That doesn't mean the BCS won't be too stupid to recognize the fact. And it doesn't mean that (due to inadequacies of the BCS) they won't have to share with OSU (if they win). But for anyone who knows football (and that excludes a lot of so-called "experts" who didn't give BSU a chance) Boise State's Fiesta performance alone was enough. For those who don't think so - well, you were wrong the first time about Boise State. You'll probably be wrong again. Some dim bulbs are still saying Boise State, "isn't in the same class with..." [fill in the blank]. Those same people were saying "in the same class with Oklahoma" just a few days ago. For you "stength of schedule" parrots, consider this: The "stronger" schools won't play Boise State. (They're AFRAID to.) Why should Florida play Boise State, when they can play it "safe" with such powerhouses as 2-9 Carolina or 4-8 UCF? Boise State invited Florida to play. Florida flinched and said, "no". Consider their position: Boise State has had the best win-loss record in NCAA football for the past 8 years. If Florida loses to them, they're out of the bowl picture - because nobody gives Boise State the respect they deserve. So the big dogs run scared from little BSU... and as Oklahoma proved, with good reason! Scrap the BCS. Bring us a playoff system. Go Broncos! And GO GATORS! (I'm an alum from both schools... what can I say?)

The BCS changed everything to put faith in polls. The sports writers lean heavily toward the Big 10, Bing 12, ACC, SEC, and PAC10, and strength of schedule is factored in. Boise State plays in the WAC and quietly put together a very good football team. In the early 1980's BYU was the only undefeated, untied (there were ties back then) team in NCAA football. They were in the WAC and beat a 6-5 Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl and won the national championship. I think they should have played Ohio State so there would be only 1 undefeated team left, but that is just my opinion.

Boise State should have been in the National Championship game from the beginning. Please note, Ohio State beat Texas-I am not sure how that plays into anything, but just note that. If the Gators win should Boise State be the National Champions-Yes, but no worries-the Gators aren't going to win. When the Buckeyes win, should they share the title. Sure, no opposition to that-we Buckeyes are good sports.

Not going to happen. Even if the BCS did like they implied they were going to do, which was say if there were two undefeated teams left after the Bowls they would play ONE FINAL GAME. At that point Boise State would likely finish at #2. I know THAT'S WHY WE PLAY THE GAME. Ok Dennis Green, but your team STILL lost.

Actually for your information there has been split champions in the past, because the AP recognizes its own champion, and the BCS recognizes one. But Honestly I dont think Boise State is as good as ohio, but they did prove without a doubt that we need a playoff. The BCS is dead nobody really buys it anymore why dont they just go to a fricken playoff already

I am so so so happy that Boise State got their time and won, but look at their schedule. There's a reason they are undefeated. I think they have a good time and could roll with the big boys, but for OSU to share the number 1 spot doesn't make sense. If Boise State had had a harder year, I might think it would be more correct, but Boise State is only as good as their schedule.

Look, until they make a playoff, this is what we are going to deal with. Tons of people thought that Michigan should have gotten the right to play for the national championship. It was between them and Florida since USC got its second loss. However, look what USC did to Michigan. We can debate all we want, but until there is a playoff, people can just keep kicking and screaming, for all the good it will do.

This is yet another reason why bowls and polls truly suck.
If they had a playoff bracket like the NCAA Men's B-ball tourney, there would be no doubt.
As it stands with BCS, even though they've proven themselves worthy of consideration in my eyes, the best they can do is #2 or #3. Sorry.

Beating a Big 12 team doesn't make you #1. The winner of the Florida-OSU game will be the champ.
