Some gay bars are not accepting of a straight person regardless if they were crossdressed or not. But those are fairly few.

Most though will accept you as any other patron. And like doing business with any bar/club, if you cause trouble you will get tossed out.

So if you wish to go to a gay bar crossdressed or not, knock yourself out.

No- most of the gay bars I went to had more straight people in them than actual gay people.

My uncle was sent to a gay bar on a joke, but when he got there, the atmosphere was so laid back, he went regularly.

They don't water down the booze, no one really fights in a gay bar, The bouncers are usually REALLY butch lesbians, so nobody screws with them, and, um- it's just a really cosmopolitan atmosphere in a gay bar.

Oh, and if you went in drag, don't be surprised if you attract some attention. Most gay people are really astute as to who the drag queens are and who are regular guys that enjoy dressing femme.

Just keep in mind that you might get some "hey girl" and "you go, girl!" sayings like that until you let someone know that you don't like it (if you don't). Just be polite.

Just so you know, gay bars draw a lot of homophobes and bigots and many of them assume that EVERYBODY in a gay bar is gay, even if most of them are not.

Does this help?

I doubt it. Some straight people might feel uncomforatable in that environment, like a white person walking into a Nation of Islam convention, but in a gay bar everyone is usually quite friendly.

Sometimes TOO friendly.

As long as the straight person doesn't make a fool of themselves by being abusive to other patrons (same as in any bar) then I shouldn't think that they would get abuse.

First off why would a straight man want to go into a gay bar?

If a straight man went into a gay bar alone or with friends he may get hit on.................only natural, after all you would be in a gay bar.
You cannot expect the patrons not to assume you are gay, most people in bars know at least visually who is new to that bar.
So being a new guy in the area you may get hit on repeatedly.

If you go in "cross dressed" or drag you will be opening the invitation even more especially to the men who are really turned on by a man in woman's clothing.

So if you don't want to be hit on then don't go into a gay bar, why don't you join a cross dressing group and meet with them on occasions.

If the straight person went in to dance, have a drink, and have a good time, most likely not.

If the straight person went in with the express wish to insult a drag queens new shoes, then yeah, he or she would get abuse, and deserved at that!

someone might admire his a~~ but that's a good thing. it's meant as a compliment.

I seriously doubt that a str8 guy would be abused unless he started some trouble.

besides, gay bars are pretty cool.
