Pharmacists share with the chemical and medical profession responsibility for discovering new drugs and synthesizing organic compounds of therapeutic value. In addition, the community pharmacist is increasingly called upon to give advice in matters of health and hygiene. You work with people.
There are different fields of specialisation that you can get into, not necessarily behind a counter or the dispensary, you can consider clinical, radiopharmacy or go into industries or be an information pharmacist, it's a vast thing.
u don't have to really memorise things as u tend to remember the diseases and conditions and medicines used. and besides u can refer to reference books.

the question(s) that the pharmacist are all valid. Lortab and Ultram are used for different kinds of pain. Not all pain is the same anymore than their is only one type of food for when you are hungry! There is a big difference between the pharmacist refusing to fill your prescription and your insurance saying that not enough time has elapsed before they will pay for it. Federal law also prevents prescriptions like Lortab from being filled before 80% of the prescription is used up. Did you run afoul of this rule? I don't know whether you are misusing (or abusing) the medications or not. But in our business we see people every day that are. They're constantly badgering us to refill their prescription early. They ALWAYS have a compelling reason we should do it. As for the pharmacist's question about whether the doctor knows yhou are taking both. It is a valid question. Often doctors will prescribe another pain medicine and tell you to stop the first. Of course, the pharmacist has no way of knowing that without asking. Naturally the addicted patient continues taking both contrary to the physicians orders. Best of luck with the new doc. Hope you get feeling better.

The job is decidedly uniteresting to the public (as you just demonstrated), mainly because of ignorance of what we do.

Suffice it to say that we have an enormous amount of information that is committed to memory. But the real axiom of skill is being able to rapidly assimilate what we have learned in order that we can help our patients.

It's four years of schooling...........it's a bit more involved that typing labels and counting pills.
