My fiance is Japanese and she used to feel the same way. What you need to do, is find some good friends who speak English. You should maybe a have a few alcoholic drinks with them (if you old enough) and start talking about anything! All our friends (English and non-English speakers) played a game about guessing the dirty words. One person would say a dirty word in their native language and the other people had to try and guess what that word meant. Lots of barriers come down. After talking about EVERYTHING in a foreign language, talking about regular things becomes a lot less scary.

Well, it's usually because your first language isn't english.Give it some time, keep practising, listening, watching english shows, and you'll catch up the accent in no time. If it's possible talk in english to your family members who you are more comfortable with, and you won't be nervous anymore.

Maybe because your first/ native language isn't english. You might still be learning it and don't feel you can express yourself fully in english. It's hard, like when I try to learn a new language...using it, I'm real shy.
But just speak more of it and you'll get used to it in no time!
