Ok so we are finally transitioning dd to milk.( She has always got up once during the night to eat(I know we should stop feeding her), but she has only slept thru the night maybe 5 times, anyway, since the transition to milk, we are doing 1/2 and 1/2 she is waking up 2 times a night wanting to eat. She went to bed at 7:00 last night and took a 8 oz. bottle(1/2 formula,1/2 milk) woke up at 11 and drank 6 oz. and just woke up at 4 and took 4 oz. She drank almost an entire days worth of milk in 9 hours. I know the milk is less filling and she has actually been eating some food so what is going on. Is this normal? I thought getting up once was bad , now twice. I am trying to tackle one battle at a time and getting her off formula was first, next is sleeping thru the night. I still am concerned she is hungry and I don't want her getting so worked up she vomits. She is starting to drink out of the nuby cup, but only water. if I put milk in there she freaks out. She refuses anything but water

If she want to eat at night let her eat. Eventually she will stop eating that much. The change to milk might be the reason why she is eating so much. Is she of a good weight? Not over weight? Do not try to limit your baby, she knows how much she needs and will eat that much. She might also be going through another growth spur, you did not mention how old she was. If you want her to drink milk out of a nuby cup but she likes only water try to dilute the water with milk and give it her that way. Babies are slow to adapt to change and resist it, so do it gradually and eventually she will drink milk.

:) You are probably working yourself to death! :) No worry, remember that the body actually was made to use the nitetime to rest and repair, that means the eyes, brain, digestive system, the heart, and everything else. So the body does not 'need' nutrition during the night. This is why we have the first meal in the morning called Break-fast, bc we are breaking the Fast. I hope that makes you feel better.:) So keeping that in mind, its just a matter of the body's habit of waking up all during the nite. It only takes 3 times to create a habit and also 3 times to break a habit. When your sweetie wakes up in the nite, after you know that she is just fine, help her lie back down, pat her a couple of times and be sure and not talk, but maybe shuush. Babies like that sound. You didn't mention how old she is but if shes old enough to drink from a cup, her body is ready to be on pureed solids. Not finger food, mind you, if she doesn't have back teeth to grind the food, but remember that it takes the body 5 1/2 hours to digest protein which would help her get thru the nite. <---this is if she is 4 months old, at least. i have a Mommy yahoo group that is going to chat about baby feeding, schedules, etc. You are welcome to join in. DrLeilaDenmarkGroup@yahoo.com God Bless. Mama's and Papa's need their rest too! ;)

You could also add some baby cereal in her milk.My son used to cry constantly wanting to eat.I started putting about a spoon full of cereal in his milk.It really helped. It kept him more satisfied.
