As far as the death penalty is concerned, I think it is more humane then sentencing one to life imprisonment. the second thing is, that once someone knows he is going to die, he would like to take it as bravely as possible. General Draza Mihailovic (leader of the underground called the Yugoslav Army of the Homeland, during the Nazi occupation in WW2), may God avenge his death (at the hands of the Tito regime), as it is told, when to his death with pride and bravely. And so did people whom you may not like, such as Timothy McVeigh and Saddam Hussein.

I dont believe in the death penalty. All civilized countries in the world dont have the death penalty except the united states. which says there is something wrong with our country. as a citizen of the united states, born and raised here, i love my country but im also not blinded by the fact that our country does wrong too. we have a great country and i wouldnt want to live anywhere else in the world but we still make mistakes and we should learn from them and stop the death penalty. i saw saddams video but i didnt actually see the hanging. all i saw was them putting the noose around his neck and another video where some in the room were taunting him.

I am against it in most cases. I understand how you felt, because I felt that way too. There are many other political leaders just as guilty (Bush and his gang of advisors) but they are never held accountable. Saddam deserved an international trial, with a judge who was not once a criminal himself. Maybe then his execution wouldn't have left me feeling so unsettled.

I did not feel sorry for him, he received a much more human execution then the people he killed. He also received a much more human death then the many of the people who were beheaded in the videos that were shown on Arab tv. If this sent shivers down your spine then I would say you missed the video of the poor English men that was beheaded. His death was not fast and he was screaming now that sent shivers down my spine. I don't feel on bit of sympathy for Saddam.

I'm in favor of the death penalty for the following crimes:
premeditated murder
repeated murder of any kind (like seriel murder)
repeated arson that leads to death
severe sex crimes against children under 13
seriel rapists
As for governmental leaders, world courts have to handle cases like this, or in Saddam's case, the sovereign government if penalizing government leaders is outlined in their constitution.
The other side of the coin is the level of evidence required. For each of the crimes listed above, I believe that the threshold for "proof" should be higher than other crimes. If you're going to put someone in a gallows, you need certainty of the crime, not just "beyond reasonable doubt".
(Higher thresholds already exist for many crimes...)

I watched it with a bowl of popcorn at my side and a song in my heart.
So, you feel sorry for him, huh?
Did you know:
He killed mothers and the babies still in their arms by releasing Sarin nerve gas on ENTIRE villages?
He would handcuff people, take them to the top of a 10 story building and then push them off?
He is responsible for more deaths than EVERY serial killer we've ever documented?
I say you should feel sorry for someone who deserves it, like the homeless man in the cold - NOT Saddam Hussein. Saddam gave up his Human Rights a LOOOOOOOONG time ago.

Some years back in this country we had the death penalty and it was called the hot seat and you had less crime because it was a deterrent. For the ones out there who don't want the death penalty they should just have extra taxes taken out of their paychecks in order to support the enormous prison population.

Unless you have been through the pain and suffering of having a family member and close friend killed in cold blood, I don't think anybody should say whether or not they believe in the death penalty, because until it hits close to home, you have no idea!

i'm for the death penalty only if it is an air tight case cause in most cases the person didn't care about you or the person that they killed . their has been to many cases where they have proven that the person didn't do then i'm against it . dna has helped many people get off death row

I'm very much against it. I don't believe people have either the competence nor the right to kill, and as for governments... don't get me started.
