My boyfriend has a computer that is 2.4 Ghz with 256MB of RAM.

I have a computer that is 1.5 Ghz with 640MB of RAM.

I am no computer expert, but I've had a couple of my own. And from what I remember 256MB of RAM is like a bare bones computer these days. Yes my boyfriend has almost twice as much Ghz as me. But I more then double the amount of RAM he has.

So, who's has the faster computer? Me or my boyfriend?

your computer is faster. However is hard to be sure. He has a CPU with more Hz, Intel used to sell the idea that more Hz means more speed and that is not truth. You must to consider other features for the CPU. More RAM means that you can run more programs at the same time... double RAM for sure makes a big difference.

his is faster speed of a pc is measured by the processer and ram is the amount of memory and then again depends if the are the same brand intel measures there bench marks differently than an AMD processer but 1.5 is a fairly slow pc and 2.4 is not to bad but he should add more ram . and ram doesnt really speed up your pc just makes it run smoother. betting he has an AMD and yours is an INTEL.

He has a faster computer, however yours may operate faster because you have more ram. When a computer starts up, it loads the operating system into memory. On your BF's pc, this would use most, if not all, of his available memory. The computer then is forced to use virutal memory from his harddrive. This means is cpu is constantly running; and although he has a fast cpu, writing to the harddrive takes longer (not to mention is hard on the harddrive.)

it depends on how u use. his computer will be faster if only one or a few programs are running. on the other hand u can interact with many programs and faster i. e. u can be multitasking and be fast as well.
since he has less RAM , the memory in HD will be used as virtual memory . which will slow down the speed as the interacting with HD will take longer as compared to that if RAM is more

via asking a extra specific question. usually? upload extra reminiscence (RAM) - homestead windows XP works superb with a minimum of 1GB. If it is an older laptop, (like Nineteen 1890s), purchase a sparkling one. Defragmenting now and lower back helps. if your stressful rigidity's merely approximately finished (bypass to my laptop, top-click on your stressful rigidity, and click on properties.) If it is frequently finished, it is gonna be sluggish. Get a much bigger stressful rigidity. If the internet's sluggish, get a speedier connection. in case you have dial-up, get DSL. in case you have DSL, get speedier DSL. in case you have speedier DSL, get cable. in case you have already got cable, get speedier cable. in case you have speedier cable and it is nevertheless sluggish, get DSL!
