depending on what type of outdoor sales you do-it could be a good move money wise or not so good. landscaping, pools,or anything to do with homes will do well here-nobody like to have to go outside and clean their yard when it's 110 outside and everyone is looking to build a pool if they don't already have one. technology sales does well too-my boyfriend's brother in law is in techno sales and makes about 80k a year-not too bad.
there are plenty of pretty places (especially up north) for long bike rides. my dad rides a harley and is on the road quite often (especially to place like prescott and sedona-nice weather and pretty atmosphere)
crime depends on where you go. inner city is NOT the place to live. Mesa, tempe, and some parts of glendale i would stay away from. Mesa and glendale have high crimes rates and Tempe is home to ASU-so it screams college city.
i live in chandler currently but am moving to far east queen creek when my home is done being built. I love chandler-it's quiet, safe, the homes are nice (no new ones going up though),and shopping for anything is close. gilbert, and awahtukee are nice towns too.
if you are looking for a bigger house for a nice price-far east queen creek, casa grande, and maricopa are the places to go. the areas are pretty rural right now so the houses aren't outrageous b/c you have to drive a bit to get to most businesses.
my house is a little over 2100 square feet and the price tag was around 180k. 5 years in the future-they are predicting the freeway to be close, shopping centers, malls, etc. so it will eventually be close to everything.
doggie daycares are easy to come by here-mainly b/c dogs can't be kept outside in the heat while their owners work. you should have no problem finding somewhere for your pooch to go. my mom has 3 dogs and they will take them to a doggie daycare when they go on vacation-there are tons of them.
here are some links for you to check out.....
good luck to you!!

just read the comment below me. PLEASE!! i have several family members in sales and they all live in very nice areas with nice homes and cars. the heat does take some adjusting but i'm sure it will be a welcome change compared to the subzero temps you face in the winter.
what state doesn't have some deranged pyscho on the loose at some point (bank robber, drug lord,drive-by shooter-we all have them)-the guy was caught and is currently serving a life sentence w/out parole.
jobs are quite easy to find-again depending on what line of work you were in. sales is no problem. things like construction, minimum wage jobs, and mall-type sales might be hard to come by due to the large amount of non-college educated and high school aged people needing jobs.
i've lived here since i was 16 (born here originally but moved due to air force father) and i've never had a problem (i'm 28 now). i have 3 girls and feel safe raising them here-you just have to research where you want to live (hence the links given above).
the people here are really nice. actually, you'll find that most people here nowdays aren't even natives. i've met alot of people from Texas (4 work on my floor at the hospital and they all say it's better here), chicago, and boston.
don't listen to all the negative you get from others-it's not perfect here but i've been alot of places due to the military and i like it here best.

Move to Tempe (metro PHX) awesome city lots to do. We moved to phx/tempe in the middle of summer from FL. I appreciated the fact that the humidity was , well - next to nothing eventhough it was 110 outside. Fall was awesome and now winter has been just spectacular! I never regret the move. Job's depending on what you prefer is available. Industries is the pilar of this place- perfect! Crime, not as bad as some major cities - infact I have seen more cops in the PHX/tempe, and surrounding cities than I've seen anywhere! As for Dog daycare, there are about 50 different service providers. We have tried many and was satisfied, worth every cent! If you like hiking, biking, etc etc - there are many parks to visit. Follow the links below for more info and good luck!

Hell no to all of the above, it is hot as hell, the economy is in the crapper, due to that services such as doggie daycare suffer, VERY hard to find good work, there was an deranged serial killer on the loose for several months last year that even shot a horse and a dog, sounds like paradise, huh? Try Dallas, much more money, more jobs, women are kinda phony, but you can weed them out, lot of good dog services too, weather is mild.

I recently moved here from Ohio. I live in the Northeast area just inside the Phoenix city lines, bordering Scottsdale. I can tell you about this area of town, but it seems very different from other areas of town. I came to Phoenix expecting a lot of diversity, and an overwhelming amount of Latino presence. My side of town is nothing of the sort. There is hardly a colored face of any sort around. Asian is as dark as they get, and the Isreali restaurant is as diverse as it gets. But when I go to other areas of town, it looks like your typical run down, Mexican infested dump. All over Phoenix, it seems to be one strip mall after another. They never actually end, with the exception of the areas where a mountain pokes through the center of town. You get used to it, and never seem to have to drive more than 3 minutes to get to any store. And people drve FAST! On the average business area roads, most people drive about 50 mph, and then there are a few that can't wait to pass you if you are only doing 50. As for motorcycles, I thought there would be a lot more in the area, but relatively few. My fiance is a motorcyclist as well and was concerned about being able to ride in the heat of summer, but everyone we have asked says they ride in the summer as well. Houses are for sale everywhere you look, but we are told that you can usually bid on them about 25% below asking price, since the market is kinda soft right now. But property values still seem to be rising by the day. Anything you get within the city of Scottsdale carries a premium and ups the price by about 20%30% for the simple fact that it's Scottsdale. There are a ton of parks to walk your dog in, and parks of all kinds. Mountain parks for long hikes, city parks for a short stroll, and just about anything else. Jobs are pretty plentiful, depending on what you do. Businesses are moving their companies here all the time, and a lot of big businesses are already here. You usually will want to live close to where you work, the comutes around here can be leangthy if you don't. There is plenty of nightlife for a single man, and lots of oportunity to make you not single anymore. There seems to be lots of family events, but just about every one I have been to seems to be pathetic. But I will keep trying.
So that's my version of Phoenix. It all depends on what your coming from and what your looking for.
