Karma!
He taped so many people while being tortured or executed all his life!
He executed so many people in that very same cell he was hanged.
He amended the article in the Iraqi constitution where it states that no one should be executed on a holly day! He refused to sign it, and wanted to be able to execute anyone at any given day...
it all got back to him! Seriously! Saddam, and only Saddam brought upon oneself those inevitable results!
Believe me, each person is rewarded or punished according to that person's deeds in his life.

In his case, yes it's appropriate. The timing of his hanging doesn't have anything to do with the timing of religious holidays, obviously. That's the point.
This is what I think: it's inhumane though to exploit his death using it as some form of propaganda. This is not the case seeing as how there is no real conspiracy behind someone who gets away with a cell phone taping of it. The entire procedure was done by the Iraqi government set of laws, there obviously wasn't one about confiscating any witnesses at the gallows. Either way, Saddam didn't deserve an extravagant fate. That's the beauty of it. It was "filmed" by more than one camera and it's all the same he was put to death by the Iraqi court and none of those idiots in the gallows know any better than to behave they way that they did plain and simple.

Yes in gerenal, but absolutely YES in the case of Sad-ham Hussein.
Arabic cultures are big on visual images and iconography. Just consider the numerous billboard sized portraits of SH that saturated Bagdad. The statues were everywhere. The psychological effect of this is diabolical. Seeing the image can convey the fraud that the person depicted was/is loved otherwise there wouldn't be so many images. Subconsciously...he is watching. In any case word of mouth in manycases isn't enough. He has to be seen dead before a large portion of the Arab community would even consider believing it. Visuals are everything, and are exploited in dictatorships. Ever see a shot of a city in China, until recently, that didn't have a billboard of Mao staring down his nose at the people. In lesser educated areas this form of intimidation is powerful.
As far as hanging him on a feast day... I can only guess that it was to paint him outside the faith, and to make the date of the execution easy to remember. After all, the image and its impact is everything. Already the rumors that he is still alive are running thru the rumor mills around the world. They could send the body on tour. Without the tv footage there would be Saddam cults popping up all over among the radical whack-jobs. Until the bodies of Hussein's homicidal sons were displayed publicly many thought that the stories of their deaths were lies, a way to calm the masses. Weeks after there were still some who believed them to be alive. Will there be Saddam sightings like Bigfoot, and Elvis?

It was taped to disprove the Conspiracy Theorists. But, they'll find a way to discount the authenticity anyway. They doubt everything: Moon Landings. JFK. MLK. Everything...
As far as the particular day, it was the Iraqi People's show, not ours.
They gave our military the information for his capture.
The held the trial.
The proved his guilt.
They held the appeal.
They sentenced him.
They carried out the execution.
They ran the show...
If they wanted to hang him on a holiday, it was their choice...

It's more than human. You had to expect that these idiot conspiracy theorists would find a way to say he hadn't been killed, so they made it OBVIOUS he really had. Of course now the theorists say it was just a body double - no matter how much proof is given, those idiots will continue to come up with alternatives.........

I agree with you that its not the question of why, but when and how. Its called the Eid al-Ad-ha and I am told it means The Day of Sacrifice. Those who did it, and recorded it on mobile and then distributed it, dit it in revange and hence they hanged him on the Day of Sacrifice! Pathetic!
