There are only five planets that are visible to the naked eye from earth. Mercury, and Venus are only seen on the horizon either just before sunrise or just after sunset, depending on which side of the sun they are on relative to earth. They are only seen slightly above the horizon because their orbits are inside of the earth's.
The three other planets that can be seen are Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. You can not see any of the planets moons with the naked eye. Galileo discovered 4 moons of Jupiter with his low powered telescope. Io, Ganymede, Callisto and Europa are known as the Galilean moons.
It would be very rare to be able to see an asteroid with the naked eye. It would have to be very close. So, outside of the 5 planets you can see with the naked eye, all other heavenly bodies are stars.

The vast majority of "stars" (counting "stars" as bright points of light in the sky at night) you see at night are stars. Only 5 of the 7 other planets in the solar system can be seen by the naked eye (they are Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn), and sometimes these planets will drift too close to the Sun to be seen at night (especially Mercury and Venus). No asteroids can be seen by the naked eye.

Stars generate light from the process of nuclear fusion which continuously goes on in their cores. Planets and asteroids reflect light...they don't generate their own.

many of the objects we refer to as stars at night are actually not stars but planets or even 'moons' of soem large planets like Jupiter.
since the planets reflect the light of the Sun and are located at large distances from the Earth, they appear as 'Stars'.
Natural stars are luminous objects i.e. they produce their own light and appear to 'twinkle'. they are circular shaped and their light takes many light years to reach us.
