I went to the supermarket today, when I got to the egg section, I had to stop and think. Should I buy the cheaper caged eggs? or the Way expensive free range? There has been a massive advertising campagin to boycott the caged eggs here, yet the reality is, caged eggs are $1.98 where the free range are $5.83. Being on a tight budget, which one would you have chosen?
I will tell you what I chose after you answer...HAHAHAHAHA!

I myself buy free range eggs, but even then you have to be sort of careful. When shopping the other day I was comparing free range egg prices. The dozen free range eggs brand that I normally buy cost 4.90.Right next to the brand that I usually buy are a dozen so called free range eggs that are 1.00 cheaper,so I pick them up.On top of the egg carton in big print says free range eggs, but on the side of the carton in small print says, free range caged eggs.(Has me beat on how an earth can you have caged free range eggs.)But any way I buy free range eggs because I prefer the taste of them, but if I was on a budget yes I to would buy caged eggs.

I'd choose free range eggs. The fact that so many people still buy caged ones perpetuates the low price of them - all supermarkets sell core items (including battery farmed eggs) at a loss to attract the bulk of sales, with "luxury" items making up the difference for them.

Sometimes there's a cost to food that isn't part of the price, no?

I buy egg substitute. I don't like the slimy part that never cooks in real eggs. But if I were you I would have went with the cheaper. Do what you can when the budget isn't so tight.

hmm, an advertising campaign to boycott caged eggs.

I wonder who could be behind that one.

$5.83 a dozen for free range you say?
