Immaturity. This isn't an answer to bring down men. It is just maturity comes later in males in all phases it seems. So expect that any man under 25 will take his girl for "granted". I don't blame the man and noone really should, it is simply his nature. It's great to be a young man

psychologically it could be a number of things from how they were raised, events in the past to trigger a sort of defense mechanism in the mind to react toward females like that, or even shows of male dominance from the past that he admired the outcomes of... it can be as simple as trust or as complicated as some sort of self assurance. you should elaborate on your question further to get a more precise answer.
