Impossible to know... but some (including myself) anticipate the following:
Domestic demographics (retiring population) in the US by the mid teens will require a greater proportion of the US budget to be dedicated to social welfare programs, i.e. medicare and social security. This money will have to come from somewhere, likely encroaching on the DOD budget. A reduced Defense budget will diminish America's global presence, in short, American global preeminance will end. America will retreat back to the Western Hemisphere and remain the dominant power there.
America will utilize auxillaries (allies) to sustain a "Western" (read: non-Indian or Chinese) advantage, by using the remilitariziation of Japan and the military shift in Germany to pick up the slack. America will try to draw South Korea to the West and away form China, possibly by maintaining its military presence as well as establishing the awaited FTA. Ultimately if India and China continue to develope to their capabilties, we will see a multi-polar world.
Where we go from there depends on the availability of strategic resources.
