i have seen a few questions regarding emo guys and girls but have NO clue what it means. please help me, i am clueless!

An "emo" is a term which is refering to a person who feels depressed, angry or confused. They will then slit their wrists to show how deep their depression runs. Not quite suicide but close enough. I think the way people use it is an insult to those who turn to this and thus encourage it. But I also think that the "emo's" should not slit their wrists because killing yourself is a stupid way to solve a problem or relieve stress of some sort. If somebody feels like they have the urge to cut their wrists talk to somebody instead because I can honestly say that cutting ur wrist will not make life any better. And it will make it far worse for those who care about you if you die. Sorry I strayed from the question... an "emo" is similar to a goth but they slit their wrists.

emo was a way to make fun of spoiled overly emotional suburban teenagers who had nothing to do but complain about how bad their life was. But it is now quickly becoming a popular fad and many alternative/punk/screamo bands are now proud of the label "emo". It is mostly associated with the music industry.
A perfect example of an emo music lyric:
"I could slit my throat, and with my one last breathe, I'd apologize for bleeding on your shirt" or something like that. Courtesy of Taking Back Sunday, a hugely popular "emo" band.
Its also a fashion statement. Guys wear super tight jeans and black clothes while girls... well they pretty much do the same. Kinda like popularized goth.
Oh yeah and that Tommy guy above me, his photo thingie looks exactly like mine!

"Emo" is term short for "emotional." It was first used to describe a genre of alternative music and then as a negative stereotype.
The stereotypical emo kid is sulky, depressed, immature, overemotional, usually goth, and usually puts all responsibility for personal behavior on others, stupid parents, or tramatic past events.
Harry Potter in the last two novels is a classic emo kid.

some people think its a certain way people dress such as guys wearing girl pants and tight shirts girls wearing thick black rimmed glasses. Most people reffer "cutters" to being emo. Basicly its just a stereotype people are put in. Like Preps, jocks, emos. Yes its very dumb but people have to do something with thier time hah. http://www.fourfa.com/ i found this site.

well its orignial meaning was emotive hardcore
but now people think its means emotional
basically anything depressing is emo. people with no friends = emo.
people who seem dark = emo. people who seems sad = emo.

"Emo" Is over-emotional. They have just shortened it to emo. Emo means that they over-show their emotions and are very open.

yeah it is for goth people.. which means people who have emotional problem...
