depends a great deal on what caused it to be sore.
but massage. laying down on staying in bed until the muscles relax.
doing some back stretches. lie on back flat on floor or in bed whatever you up to and bring both legs up to your chest.
standing and touching toes doing this slowly and only as much as feels OK.
other stretches you can find pics of them on the net
sitting with a pillow behind your back to help support you .
slowly twist upper body one way then other with face staying looking at same spot on wall
bending backwards
lie down and lift one leg held straight up high
do this to the other one
mostly if your back is sore really sore from something you know about lifting too much that sort of thing the answer is most often to just lay flat in bed or lie in bed with your back on the bed and then put pillows under your bent knees .
rest it then when the pain is less do the stretches slowly not a race and then still later if you feel fine after that do some exercises to prevent this from happening again.
i suggest you do a simple search on the net for pics or diagrams or stretches for the back as i am not much for writing how something like that is done . need to show pics.

You can lie down on a bed or sofa, in any comfortable position. To ease the strain on your back, try putting pillows under your head and between your knees when lying on your side, under your knees when lying on your back, or under your hips when lying on your stomach. These positions reduce forces that sitting or standing impose on the back — especially on the disks, ligaments, and muscles. There is even some evidence that the time-honored hard bed is more comfortable. If you don’t have a good, firm mattress, consider adding a bed board.

Use muscle creams or rubs: Products such as Tiger Balm and Biofreeze can often provide temporary relief from pain.

This is an accupressure tech. Put your left hand palm up. Now rub the edge of your palm with the fingers of your right hand. Find the place where it seems to hurt the worst and concentrate most of your rubbing at that point. It should help.

Go and see a chiropractor. Depending on the underlying cause of your back pain they might be able to help you and maybe even provide instant pain relief.
