I am currently on the yearbook staff at my high school and am planning on being editor next year. I'm already looking for ideas for themes and good web sites for layout designs. Any help would be amazing!! Thanks!

PS... I'm looking for something more than "shoot for the stars", "be all you can be", etc.... you know what I mean :)

well at my highschool one year they had a construction theme (9th) cause they were building new things, so it was like building the future...another was puzzle pieces (10th), the next year was a road/street theme (11th) and i think my senior year they did envy...haha but all over the covers stunk and there were so many typos and such, good luck

I am also on the yearbook staff, and I am going to be an editor next year. Right now we are doing the theme "Unstoppable." It is looking really good. We use stop signs, and arrows throughout the entire book. If you want a yearbook publisher you should try Herff Jones. It is a great company that lets you do what you want. What is you theme on this year? I hope that I helped.

Hi.

I'm on the Yearbook Staff for my Middle School. I am going to be the editor next year. This year, our theme is 'Out With The Old, In With The New.' because we are getting a new building in two weeks! Last year, the theme was 'Jokes and Quotes.' There were school related jokes and quotes on each page. The year before, the theme was 'Light, Cameras, Action. Pershing (school name): The Movie. The year before, the theme was CSI: Pershing, and it was a whole mystery theme.

Hope this helps!

(P.S.---We use Taylor Publishing.)

How about a Travel or Journey theme? You could do the cover like an old-fashioned trunk with stickers and labels and straps, and you can continue the theme inside by incorporating ticket stubs, postmarks and other travel souvenirs in the layout.

Hey the class that graded before me did a really interesting one. It was leaving footprints (this may or may not work for you because they had a small class and mandatory volunteer hours) and each grad got to write about their experience and the footprints they left and how they would use this in the future and all the grade 10's and 11's (canada so i think thats life freshmen and softmores in usa terms) had group projects that were somewhat themed like grade 10s were feeding the hungry so they would do food drives and work at the food bank and the grade rep wrote about it in the year book and there were photos, and grade 11's had working with the community so big brothers and sisters, reading to litle kids etc. But like I said i went to a small christian school where in grade 10 and 11 we did volunteering as part of religion and 20 hours individually in grade 12 were required to graduate from their. but you could tweek it if you like the idea

I saw a cute yearbook last year that had a cinema theme. The front cover looked like one of those movie clap board things used when the director says "cut". (I don't know what they're really called! haha)

I forgot the "title" of it, but it was something cute/catchy related to movies that you could come up with. It had little movie-related graphics throughout, film, popcorn, etc.

We used "picture perfect" recently - simple and really pliable theme, you can put a lot more or less into it.

Picture yourself in 10 years , Picture Perfect days
Filmstrip picture on cover and divider sheets to showcase topic
Polaroid looking pictures scatted throughout with "handwritten" notes on them

the first of the book started with a poem about how early cavemen first recorded thier history and how records of history have changed overtime and how history needs to be preserved etc.
