I gave birth to my 4 children in water. It was wonderful. Eases pain, makes transition for baby so much easier too. So much gentler. But this is really a personal choice. There are many books and online sites about this type of birth. Talk to midwives. They have tapes and could let you talk to other mother's who have given birth this way. A baby born at home is great if it is what you want. They baby will be born the way you want it. You will be where you feel the most comfortable and safe. Imagine snuggling after the birth in bed with you, hubby and baby. It is heaven. In my opinion there is no other way to birth!!!

Personal opinion...hospital, but I've never had a water birth. It sort of freaks me out...however some hospitals offer a water birth. Check into it if that interests you, that way you can have the best of both worlds!

The short answer would have to be "water", but there are lots of factors. I work at a freestanding birth center and know from hearing lots of moms' comments that they really like giving birth in the water. It helps relax mom and provides buoyancy to help her feel more comfortable.

i never had water birth..i know that hospital birth was perfect for me.
