Is there any way to check whether someone has used wireless internet on my laptop?
Other members of my family use my laptop. Can I tell if they are using wireless internet on it? We have a normal pc with dial up internet access and it may have a router I'm not sure.

If the laptop says it has WLAN, then most likely it has a wireless card built into it, if this is the case, (assuming also that it is a newer laptop with Windows XP on it) then you already have everything you need for the laptop to connect to a wireless internet signal (at a wireless internet location like a cyber cafe/hotel/or even your house if you have a wireless router) In your system trey (where the time is) you most likely have an icon for this wireless card. When you put your mouse over this icon it will say "Wireless Network Connection" right click on this icon, and you will get an option to "View Available Wireless Networks" when you select this option you will get a window that has a list of available wireless network to choose from.

This is where it gets dificult and you will need to know something about the netwrok you are trying to connect to. You will see the name of the networks around and each will have some details below it (Security Enabled Wireless Network or Unsecured Wireless Network) If the network you want says "Unsecured...", then simply double left click on it, and you will get a confirmation pop up, click "Connect Anyway" and you are done. If it is "Security-enabled..." then when you double click on it, you will be prompted to give a "Netwrok key" this is something you will need to get from whomevers network this is you are trying to connect to. It will need to be entered twice correctly and once done, you are connected to the internet.

From here, open your web browsed, most likely Internet Explorer and you are surfing.

There really is no easy way to find out if other Users on your laptop have been using Wireless Internet. There is also no real need to do so in the first place. If you suspect other have used the wireless, the best bet is to ask them.

If your are certain that your laptop has WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) then you dont need to buy a wireless network card becuase you already have one installed in your laptop. But of course that WLAN alone wont give you internet connection instead you need to be in the hotspot, basically, it is a Wi-Fi access point or area, in particular for connecting to Internet. Hotspots are found near restaurants, train stations, airports, cafes(Starbucks), libraries and other public places.
