I don't agree with HRT for everyone. I got through the menopause without it, although I had plenty of symptoms, like more headaches, depression etc. I started exercising more and eating a healthier diet, I often go on a vegan diet for a few days which helps my mood and body. I took up some new hobbies and kept in touch with friends and made contact with some old lost friends. It's a struggle some days I know but there's no reason you can't come through the other side, older but wiser and even healthier than you were! Explain to your faimily, spouse what it's all about so that they know if you're in a mood sometimes and can react accordingly (keep out of your way!) I When flushes started I threw away my polo neck jumpers and bought some lighter clothes, it's best to dress in thin layers so you can 'peel' off when you need to! Drink plenty of water, herb tea and juices, and reduce your caffein and nicotine a little. Most importantly -focus on the positive of getting older - you'll have more time for yourself, and you really do get wiser!

Yes it is all very normal, But please keep in mind that for each symptom that menopause may bring us, the medical world has found solutions..Even for that dreaded depression & those irritating hot flashes..In fact there are over the counter meds that women can buy at their local drug store to help with the symptoms..Although sometimes it is best to consult your Dr and if you do not have then find one and he or she will more than likely will put you on a hormone that can make you feel like you did before menopause entered your world.

Depression is never normal and you should always seek treatment. A weight gain of a few pounds is considered normal in menopause.

Yes it is called PMS, it can be anything to just having cramps or craving chocolate when you are having a period. Your hormones are changing, your body can react very crazily when your hormones aren't what is considered normal. The good news is there are over the counter and all natural remedies, some that work and others that don't. Go to the gym as it will help level out the depression.

Yes it common. A good remedy is walking, it gets the body going and helps with weight loss, it also releases endorphins (natural feelgood chemicals) from the brain and so helps the depression. If the depression is bad then you should seek medical attention;

Yes it is. Hormone replacements can help, or try some of the homeopathic remedies on the shelves. (true hormone replacement works the best, especially with the weight gain and aging process of the skin.)

yes, it is normal to feel depressed as your hormones are going hayward...out of whack! have you gone to see you ObGyn? they can prescribe you some hormone substitute. i personally do not take hormones as i had cancer several years ago and my taking hormones would encourage the cancer to come back.
regarding gaining weight.....yes, some women do gain weight but you can control that with a little exercise. a time will come when your body will adjust to the hormone inbalance and settle down.
