You would think maybe Mike Hussey, but he isn't all that young.

Michael Clarke is a promising prospect as a leader.

Mitchell Johnson maybe, but having a fast bowler as a captain is a mortal sin!

What do you think about Cameron White's chances of playing ODI matches now?

yeahi agree hussey would be a great captain but he is the same age as ponting....so he might be in the team for an extra couple of years but would they make a person captain if they knew he was going to retire in a couple of years time or give some one else the title? im not too sure on that but i'd say clarkey

I think Michael Clarke. Ponting will be around for about another 4 years or so, so Hussey probably will be too old, even though he'd be a great captain. By the time Ponting retires, Clarke will be the most experienced player, still young enough to continue in the job for a few years.

Australia will NEVER have a fast bowler as captain. Ever. Full Stop. - The main reason is aussie fast bowlers are so aggressive they will bowl themselves all day til their shoulders fall off, so you need a batsman to tell them what to do.

While Mike Hussey, Michael Clark and Shane Watson are the possible candidates for Captaincy, I strongly feel that Mike
Hussey will be made as Captain after retirement of Ricky
Ponting as other 2 are very young.

i agree with u on all points and with other people who answered about Clarke being the next captain. Hussey will be too old as u said and Clarke is the only person now who is right to fill in the shoes of Ponting as captain once he hangs up his boots.

MIchael Clarke is the best bet. But somehow I do think that Hussey will be given a fair chance first.

its gonna be michael clarke only, not if any other new player comes up. ponting is 33 n will be retiring sumwht in 2010 or aftr 2011 wc, till that time clarke gonna learn hw 2 place field n is also gonna feel d sense of responsibilty on his shoulders so he will be handed over d captaincy 4 sure, moreover hayden, hussey, gilchrist will also be planning to retire till that time so clarke is most probable of all of them

I dont see any other long-term option apart from Clarke. Although I dont think he'd be that good.

Crickets make noise with their wings so I would thing the one with the loudest wings. Either that or i would go with the one that uses the the best paddle on his students. Cricket makes no sense!!!!Bowling ? in Cricket? which is supposed to be like Baseball (which is a real game btw) Captains belong on a ship. and speaking of bowling , my wife throws a slow ball but can still get a strike.
